JMD Forestry Limited T/A is an experienced Cumbrian based company specialising in forestry and woodland management throughout the North of England, UK. The director Jackie Dunne has worked in the forest industry since 1994 on both commercial forest estates and woodlands managed for conservation.
A Professional Member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters, Jackie also holds a Forest Management degree and Professional Tree Inspection Qualifications and is a Technical Member of the Aboricultural Association (TechArborA). Jackie Dunne has recently taken on the chairmanship of the Royal Forestry Society Northwest.

Woodland Surveys and Management Plans
You may have purchased a woodland and are wondering where to start; you may to wish to assess the future commercial output of the timber on your Estate; you may wish to undertake restoration work in ancient woodland. Regardless of your goals, Dunnewoods can help.
Dunnewoods can produce 10-year woodland management plans with felling programmes and detailed mapping with full compliance to the UK Forestry Standard and for Forestry Commission approval. Plans have been produced for a range of estates and woodland owners across Cumbria, North Yorkshire, and Durham.
Dunnewoods will produced detail maps. Full contract and project management for the necessary forestry works can also be facilitated.

Woodland Creation & Delivery
Strong UK government focus on increasing woodland cover means there’s never been a better time to plant trees. You may want them as shelter on your farm; to create a wood of your own for commercial timber output or for multiple outputs.
Whatever the reason, Dunnewoods can assist with full site surveys and choosing the right tree for the objectives, complete woodland design to meet the UK Forest Standard, stakeholder consultation and full budgeting of the project.
Advice on tree provenance, building resilient woodland and the management of tree planting and maintenance can also be provided.

Ancient Woodland Management
Dunnewoods works closely with Cumbria Woodlands and the Woodland Trust to deliver a funded project advising owners of Planted Ancient Woodlands (PAWs) on sympathetic management options to protect the ancient woodland features.

Grant & Finance Options
There is a myriad of grant funding and financial support available to woodland owners to assist with all aspects of woodland and land management, as well as woodland creation.
Dunnewoods can help you identify which UK grants your woodland is eligible for and help you access and manage them, from Countryside Stewardship and Forestry Commission grants to carbon financing, as well as reviewing emerging options within natural capital accounting.

Jackie Dunne
Jackie, has a degree in Forest Management (BSc Hons) from Newton Rigg College and a BA in Business Studies, as well as being a professional member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters. Jackie started her forestry career with Zetland Estates and spent a 12 year tenure with the Woodland Trust. Then in 2010 Jackie launched her consultancy career.
